"Liberate Us"

The final mixes have been mastered and sound wonderful.
The graphics are done and the proofs have been approved.
The CDs will be made available at the concert on October 18
and will be available on-line a few weeks after that.
For the next three months, we'll be previewing some songs
from the new CD. We also updated the audio from previous
versions of songs on the CD that have already been shared.
"Liberate Us" is a song written by Jim for and about
Palm Sunday. The initial verses are presented from the
perspective of someone in the crowd, watching as Jesus makes his
triumphant entry into Jerusalem, hoping for a King, not knowing
what is to come. However the implication is obviously from the
Christian perspective of Jesus not just as "Liberating King",
but as our Savior, knowing what we now know about what was to come
during the passion week, the culmination of Jesus' resurrection and
eventual ascension, and what it means to "save the day" and "set us

As is often the case, while Jim speaks through his melodies and lyrics, I (EJ) tend to express myself better through music. The musical introduction was written to represent the parade. It begins with a flourish announcing and trumpeting Jesus' arrival. It continues as a rocking, passionate, driving arrangement conveying the hope, excitement and optimism. About half way through, it turns to a minor key as an undercurrent of tension and ambivalence bubbles to the surface, portending how the crowd was to turn on Jesus only a few days later. Nevertheless, the parade presses on and the celebration proceeds.
